Utilizing his favorite Air Jordan model from high school, Chen crafted the low-top version of the Air Jordan 13 to mimic the look of the famous Terracotta Warriors statues, which he visited on a recent trip to Lintong county, Shaanxi province in China. To replicate the look of the ancient terracotta construction of the statues, the upper is constructed in a sepia-tone suede with a tile texture to reference the armor worn by the warrior figurines.
